Helping You Come Home to the Woman You are Becoming
You just don’t feel like yourself…
You've arrived at the middle of your life, and you just don't feel like yourself.
You awake in the middle of the night with your mind already spinning: past conversations, tomorrow's to-do list, a vague and nameless sense that something is wrong. You watch the clock change numbers, hoping morning will bring relief.
When you finally get up, you drag yourself through the motions. You shower, dress, eat, work, almost automatically. The necessary things get done, but the days blur together. Somewhere in the middle of it all, you catch yourself wondering: How did I end up here?
When emotions do break through, they swing wildly: from intense anger, to embarrassing sadness, to a strange numbness that somehow makes your heart pound harder. Your whole body seems to buzz as you try to get through the day, and the source of that buzzing is a frightening unknown.
So you walk around with a practiced smile, hoping no one asks too many questions. Because deep down, you know you're faking it.
You're afraid you might be stuck here. Part of you longs to get back to who you used to be, but you're not even sure who that person really was.
So how are you supposed to find yourself now?
This season of life, as disorienting and exhausting as it is, is also one of the most powerful thresholds a woman can cross. The emotional intensity, the restlessness, the feeling that the old version of you no longer fits? That's not you falling apart. That's you outgrowing what no longer serves you. With the right support, this chapter can become the one where you finally stop performing and start living: more authentically, more freely, and more fully than before.
Therapy in Fort Collins for Women Who Are Done Just Getting Through the Day
Megan Silberhorn, LPCC, therapist in Fort Collins, CO.
My name is Megan, and I'm a therapist in Fort Collins and online throughout Colorado, specializing in women in mid-life and perimenopause.
Most of my clients arrive carrying crippling anxiety and emotions that feel impossible to control, swinging between high reactivity and a deep "I don't care" toward the things that used to matter. This alternating experience (big feelings and then nothing at all) is uncomfortable, especially when it feels out of your hands. The mid-life female experience can be "unpalatable" for the rest of the world, and even for ourselves. I am here for all of it.
In therapy with me, you'll find a safe space to share the real stuff out loud without being minimized.
Together, we'll:
Distinguish what is hormonal from what is situational so you're not left guessing
Release stored emotions and old narratives that never had a voice because you were always taking care of everyone else
Build tools and skills tailored to your unique experience of life
Reprocess old trauma if we discover it underneath the surface (I am trained in EMDR)
Find clarity and confidence as you step into this new era of your life
We'll meet weekly to build a real foundation, not a quick fix. Many women begin to notice a meaningful shift within the first six weeks, and I believe in staying the course with you rather than rushing the process.

Why does a woman in perimenopause seek counseling?
Because it’s rough for women in mid-life! I hear so many women trying to get help, who end up walking away feeling dismissed, minimized, and frustrated. I provide a safe space where you can bring your whole experience and I will believe you! Together we can find ways to bring gentleness and compassion to all the things that you are juggling. Even if you can’t name it all!!
How do I know if I need counseling or therapy?
Are you missing work? Unable to concentrate? Not sure where the rage is coming from? Can’t get up off the couch? Or possibly controlled by your daily task list and unable to slow down? Maybe, you’re alternating in all of this. If this is you, then you could benefit from some support. I believe you and we can find a way forward together.
How do you help with anxiety and depression?
Is it hormones or is there a clear source to your anxiety and depression? It can be hard to tell! We can work together to figure it all out. It is my goal to help you find the answers for yourself and find a way to cope that works best for you. None of this is one size fits all!
