The length of therapy looks different for everyone, and ultimately you are in the driver's seat. We will move at a pace that feels right for you and revisit your goals together along the way. My work tends to be long-term, because real and lasting change often takes time, and I believe in staying the course with my clients rather than rushing the process. That said, many people begin to notice a meaningful shift within the first six weeks, which can itself be an encouraging sign that the work is taking root.

My sessions are weekly until you believe you’ve built the foundation to fly solo. When you’re ready, you’ll know it!

I do not formally give homework. I find that when I provide homework, it gets missed or forgotten. The modalities that I am trained in do not prioritize homework like CBT or DBT, so it isn’t a necessary function of the work we do together.
I will provide psychoeducation and teach you tools to utilize for calming during our sessions with the hope that practicing in sessions will demonstrate that these skills work for you and give you the motivation to utilize them outside of the session. -
I am a private pay therapist and out of network with all insurance providers. I will obtain your credit card information when we begin sessions and charge you for your weekly sessions using the card on file. You can use a Flexible Savings Account or a Healthcare Savings Account if you have one. I provide my clients with a monthly superbill to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement or application to the out of network deductible.

I charge $150/session.

It depends on the modality. If you are seeking EMDR Therapy, my style is collaborative and relational. It takes a series of 4-6 sessions of talk-therapy to build our relationship and resources to support you while reprocessing memories.
AEDP is an integrative talk and somatic experiencing therapy. It is non-directive, meaning, I will not necessarily provide you with something to talk about. You’ll bring your most recent experiences with you to process and explore. AEDP utilizes somatic techniques for “bottom up” processing. Meaning we will explore body sensations in relationship to emotions and process these emotions to completion. I am active in the session through reflection and asking questions to deepen the experience.
All in all, I am an integrative counselor who draws from several modalities to process emotions, explore patterns and behaviors, drop into the body with somatics, and achieve goals. That means we will look at behavior patterns, fragmented parts (IFS style), beliefs, and body work. It may sound like a lot and at the same time it is slow and gentle while being transformative.

Yes, it is confidential. My highest and most important goal as a therapist is to provide safety for my clients. It is also the foundation of my training in EMDR and AEDP. Trauma therapy requires clients to feel safe and secure with their counselor. Without that, therapy does not go as deep as it needs to achieve a sense of healing. Also, if there is ever a time that you do not feel safe with your counselor, that is a topic that needs to be addressed in a session. Safety is very important!

All therapists are unique in that we all have different styles, approaches to theory, and personalities! Finding the right fit for you means you’ll have to spend some time researching. My first recommendation is to check out Psychology Today and do a search in your area with your symptoms. If you want to use insurance, you can search in Psychology Today for therapists that take your insurance. Once you’ve found a few that resonate, review the counselor’s website. Then schedule consultations with at least 3 therapists, maybe more. You’ll want to get a feel for each counselor you meet with to make an educated decision.
Even after doing all of this, it still may not be the right fit. There are so many counselors out there and I truly believe that you can find the right fit. You just have to do some work ahead of time and advocate for yourself when you realize that therapy isn’t working.I highly recommend that you do not take the first counselor you are offered through a group practice, insurance site, or the first counselor that returns a phone call. You deserved a good fit and you’ll get the best outcomes with the right fit.
